More than 100 residents in Merced county were forced out of their homes tuesday night. Officials say the water pipes at the Sierras Apartment complex in Winton froze Monday night and cracked Tuesday morning when the sun rose. It caused about 80 units to receive severe water damage, displacing dozens of families. The Red Cross moved 120 people to Evergreen Christian Center about a mile and a half away from the complex.
