A local truck driver vanishes nearly 3,000 miles from home.
35-year old Robert Northrip is at the center of a cross-country mystery and now family members fear the worst.
Sib Northrip shows the last message he sent his son saying, "You need to call me as soon as possible, your mother is in the hospital and she is real sick. I love you son."
"No parent should ever watch their or know that their child has passed away for any reason," said Northrip.
Robert Northrip is a Mcclane High School grad and the father of two kids living in Fresno.  He was last seen December 21st at a North Carolina motel with his semi truck fully loaded ready to be dropped off. His father says Robert is a man who loves his work and more than anything deeply loves his children.
"When he's working it's his work and his family, that's what's important to him," said Northrip.
Northrip was supposed to be home for Christmas but missing holidays come with the territory for truck drivers. The last couple of days his family has been desperately trying to reach him to let him know his mother had died of pneumonia. CBS47 spoke with his sister who lives in San Diego; she says this isn't like him.
"I really have absolutely no idea at this point but I just have a bad feeling, I just have a very bad feeling," said Michele Cole, Robert's sister.
CBS47 contacted Statesville North Carolina Police who confirm a missing persons report has been filed and they're investigating. His father says his cell phone is dead and he hasn't been onto his Facebook page in a month. His family wants answers and wants to know he's alive.
"I want some answers, my daughters want answers, you know, where is Robert?" said Northrip.
If you have any information you're urged to contact the Statesville Police Department at 704-878-3406.
