LGBT YOUTH REACT TO SAME-SEX MARRIAGE ANNOUNCEMENT

Gay marriage is legal in 9 states, and today the Supreme Court announced it's now hearing cases on gay marriage.

CBS 47’s Lemor Abrams spoke to a youth group about the same-sex marriage debate.

Some in the group aren't even old enough to vote.

Yet they met Friday night...with their mind on marriage.

“It’s something everyone thinks about once in their life whether it’s with a man or a woman,” said Ryan.

But Ryan feels jittery about the Supreme Court's upcoming decision to hear gay marriage cases, including prop. 8, California's voter approved ban on same-sex unions.

“It'll make it easier for them to pass gay marriage, however if it's rejected, it all goes away,” he said.

Fresno’s Pastor Jim Franklin opposes gay marriage and hopes the justices will uphold prop. 8.

“Prop. 8 was upheld by the supreme Court of State of CA, now it's only the 9th court that's overturned it. Now… I think the supreme court sees the rights of the people,” Pastor Franklin said.

That's exactly what Ryan is afraid of.

“So many gay, lesbian, transgender who want to get married and can't… their rights are infringed upon,” he said.
