The thieves are tied to at least four different crimes, including one Tuesday morning that targeted a World War Two veteran.

In the back of a pickup truck, evidence from a crime that happened just a few hours earlier.

A huge coin collection, worth an estimated 200-thousand-dollars. It belongs to a World War Two veteran.

"It's a huge recovery for this war veteran, this World War Two veteran that lost all the coins,"said Sgt. Michael Chapman with the Fresno Sheriff's Department.

Thieves took the coins and three guns from the veteran's home earlier in the morning, along with other mementos.

"They don't truly appreciate the value of what this war veteran has accumulated over years and has taken the time to preserve in his home. To be able to return that to him intact, everyone here is just ecstatic," said Sgt. Lenny Sherman, with the California Highway Patrol and the Help Eliminate Auto Theft Team.

The coins and guns were found after detectives from the Fresno Sheriff's Agriculture Task Force stopped a truck with stolen scrap metal in the back.

It turned out the truck was stolen.

So the auto theft team was brought in. Another stolen car was found on the property.

"Several vehicles were noticed in a state of disrepair," Sherman said.

Five people were arrested. Some were hiding on the property.

Authorities believe the thieves were responsible for stealing cars, ripping off farms, and burglarizing homes. And using the stolen good to support their drug habit.
