Another Amtrak crash is under investigation in Madera County.

A southbound train hit an SUV on the tracks around 8:00 p.m. Tuesday night near Avenue 15 1/2 and Santa Fe.

The train was heading to Bakersfield with 84 passengers on board. No one was hurt.

The SUV belongs to a 56-year-old Fresno man who was not inside when the train hit.

Sgt. John Johnson with the California CHP said, "For reasons that are still under investigation right now. He went through the stop sign at the intersection, continued northbound through a dirt field where he collided with some safety barriers that are erected around a cellular telephone tower, glanced off of those and his vehicle became disabled on some Burlington Northern Santa Fe tracks."

The man says his gas pedal got stuck.

The train was delayed for a little over an hour.

This is the second accident involving an Amtrak train and a vehicle in Madera County in the last few days.

On Friday, a train hit a pickup that was parked on the tracks near Road 28 1/2 and Oregon.

No one was injured in that early crash either.
