A wanted parolee chose the wrong neighborhood and car to mess with.
Fresno residents took back their neighborhood after the suspect went on a crime spree Friday morning.
Fresno Police caught and arrested Brian Richardson off Cambridge and Palm, after neighbors fought him down.
Parents were dropping kids off at school just after 7am, when the suspect crashed a stolen car into a truck, and took off running into homes.
Neighbors were afraid to go on camera because of what happened next.
“I ran out my kitchen pulled a buoy knife; started chasing him... he was going into my neighbor's house, so then got this big…long metal pole, started poking him...he started kicking in my neighbor's window,” said a neighbor who went by the name Jack.
Jack said he saw Richardson break into another neighbor's house and attack a little girl. “Took a little girl and threw her to the side. Mom like hit the wall they were screaming like crazy. He jumped out this window... and squared off with officers,” said Jack.
“He tried to punch the cop. He stalled and the guy took off again,” said another neighbor.
Neighbors then saw him attempting to carjack Henry Guerry’s van, an ex-marine determined not to let another bad guy get away.
“He approached my front car so I kind of nicked him to slow him up,” said Henry Guerry.
Police moved in... and Brian Richardson just lay there.
“I'm pleased with the idea that people are now saying hey this has got to end. This system has got to take care of business,” said Guerry.
Richardson faces two counts of burglary, carjacking, and auto theft charges.
