Local politicians are drafting a letter asking the USDA to allow Central Valley Meat Company to reopen.
The plant was shut down earlier this week after an undercover video was released showing animal abuse of sick cows.
Congressmen Devin Nunes, Jeff Denham and Kevin McCarthy issued a plea, calling the people responsible for the video, extremists.
In a statement, Congressman Nunes said, "In early 2012, a group used improvised explosive devices to blow up fourteen trucks used for transporting livestock not far from Hanford, citing animal welfare as their excuse. Now, area residents are confronted with economic terrorism."
