Michael Torres says he broke a world record overnight and hopes to put Fresno on the world map by playing "Super Street Fighter 4" at Game Troopers on Blackstone and Ashlan Avenues.
The previous record was 32 hours, which he’s already passed, but he plans to play for several hours more.
Torres said, “The gaming community is huge here in Fresno but I don’t feel like there’s anything that represents it. Hey man, a world record, it doesn’t seem like such a bad thing. More “reps” for Fresno right?”
He had been playing for about 36 hours at last check before 7:00 a.m. Wednesday morning and planned to play until Game Troopers closes at 6:00 p.m.
Torres has several friends with him at Game Troopers to cheer him on and keep him awake during the record attempt.
It’s unknown when the Guinness Book of World Records will certify the record attempt but we will stay in touch with Michael.
