Fresno Police announced early Friday evening that a man questioned following a disturbance inside his home admitted to killing his elderly father.

Police say the suspect, identified as 55-year-old Charles Hudiburgh of Fresno, called 9-1-1 to report the disturbance just before 11am Friday. Once police arrived at his home off W. Pontiac Way, they noticed his father, identified by family members as 81-year-old Claude Hudiburgh, had suffered serious injuries.

Claude Hudiburgh was taken to Community Regional Medical Center. At around 3pm Friday, the hospital notified police that he had died, police said.

Detectives say Charles Hudiburgh admitted to them that he murdered his father. He'll be booked into the Fresno County Jail on one count of murder, police said. There are no other suspects in the case, they added.

Family members told CBS47 at the scene Friday that Charles Hudiburgh had been taking care of his father at the home for the past several years. A home health care nurse stopped by three times per week to help, police said.

Charles Hudiburgh had recently been showing signs of depression possibly stemming from a divorce and/or job loss, family members said.

Neighbors said he has a history of mental issues.

"We all know he has mental problems. He also takes antidepressants and stuff. Everybody around here knows that," said neighbor Mickey Dockery.
