It looks like the driver in a deadly crash in Fresno earlier this week was high on a controlled substance.

Investigators say 26-year-old Eugene Moore caused the crash around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday night on Fresno Street, near Shields Avenue.

They are not saying what he might have been on at the time and are waiting for the toxicology report.

The crash killed 28-year-old Julie Hamilton.

Witnesses tell police that Moore was driving 80 to 100 miles per hour in a 40-mile-per hour zone when he hit Hamilton.

Lt. Tony Bennink with the Fresno Police Department said, "…so he was more than double the speed limit, and under the influence -- is our belief. This is that accident we all worry about, because this young lady was driving in the early evening, she's doing everything correctly, and she’s taken out by somebody."

Moore broke both his legs in the crash and is still in the hospital. He's expected to go to jail once he's released from medical care.
