A man unsuccessfully tried to rob a bank in Northwest Fresno on Monday.

It happened at 3:45 p.m. at the Wells Fargo Bank on West Shaw Avenue.

A man walked into the bank and gave a note to the teller demanding money.

He did not appear to be armed and he apparently got scared after handing over the note.

John Jensen with the Fresno Police Department said, "The teller took a step away from her teller window. At that point the criminal got scared or nervous and immediately left out the side door."

The man didn't get any money. He's described as African-American in his mid 30s, wearing a blue shirt with long sleeves.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Fresno Police Department.
