Quick response from the Fresno Fire Department helped prevent an apartment fire from spreading Wednesday morning.
The blaze broke out just before 7:00 a.m. at a complex on Cedar near McKinley.
Several people called in the fire because it was visible for miles due to a large column of smoke.
Once on the scene, crews were able to knock the flames down quickly.
Fresno Fire spokesperson Sean Johnson said, "We have one unit that's pretty much totally damaged; another unit with some smoke and minor fire damage. We were able to prevent the spread from the second story fire from taking out the entire apartment complex."
One woman injured her arm while trying to evacuate and was taken to the hospital.
Fire crews rescued some cats in one of the apartments.
