The F/A 18 jet experienced problems shortly after takeoff. Both the student pilot in the front seat and the instructor in back ejected safely. Meanwhile, the plane slammed into apartments, creating a massive fire that burned several units.
Amazingly, only a half dozen people went to the hospital. They along with the pilots were treated and released. The Navy says a mechanical malfunction lead to the crash.
