The Boys and Girls Club of the Sequoias has closed one of it's Porterville sites. The board of directors says the facility on the East side of town had been running in the red for the past two years and the closure was inevitable. Employees say they were given a 24 hour notice over the phone and the news devastated the kids. Parents are worried, they say the neighborhood is is a low-income area with a lot of gang activity and the club gave kids a safe place to go after school. The Boys and Girls Club says there is a small chance the site could re-open but it won't be easy. The club would need to raise enough money to get out of the red, which is $50,000.
