Sheriff Margaret Mims and Senator Andy Vidak are coming together to help the elderly, toughen up.
It's Senator Vidak's fifth town hall on the topic, covering Central California.
Friday, he was at the Silvercreek Senior Home in Fresno, where dozens of elders showed up for a chance to understand how to defend themselves, against themselves.
Statistics show, the majority of abuses are family members or someone the victim knows, like their caregivers. As Sheriff Mims heard stories of heartache and frustration, she also reminded the elderly where to go to get help.
"List your phone on the do not call list, get your credit report, and facilities like this-there's help to show them how to do that," said Mims.
