The American Red Cross Central Valley has chosen eleven residents as this year's Real Heroes.

One of those heroes, Sushil Prakash, joined KSEE24 Sunrise to share his story.

He was chosen because of his program he started at his Fresno 7-11 convenience store. He's set up a library of sorts in his store where children check out a book to read at home. If they bring back a written essay on the book, Prakash offers them a free Slurpee. He says he's lost count as to how many kids have taken him up on the offer since the program started last summer.

Watch the video to see more of Prakash's story.

This Friday, you have the chance to honor all eleven American Red Cross Heroes at a 40's themed party that takes place at the Fresno Airport in the Corporate Hangar from 5pm-10:30pm.
