Fresno County Supervisors voted Tuesday night to reform the county's pension system.
The board approved retirement changes for all employees hired on or after June 11th of this year.
It would provide less benefits at a lower cost to the county.
Supervisor Judy Case said, "What we have before us in incredibly important and has been the result of several years of work to get our retirement costs under control."
A hearing in Sacramento could affect the decision. Fresno county's largest union claims the county bargained in bad faith over a new contract.
