From a green ogre to a stampede, there are plenty of events happening in the valley this weekend.
Here's a handful of suggestions in your High Five report:
-- Shrek the Musical comes to life on stage at Playhouse Merced.
Show times are Friday and Saturday at 7:30pm and Sunday at 2pm.
-- Monster Jam takes over the Save Mart Center. Six monster trucks will perform during three shows this weekend. They're Friday at 7:30pm and Saturday at 2pm and 7:30pm.
-- Head to Sycamore Island Saturday for the 2nd Annual San Joaquin Fishing Derby. Prizes for both kids and adults will be given out for the largest trout and bass caught. Registration at 6am. Fishing goes from 7am-11am. It's free.
-- Head to Chukchansi Park Sunday for two reasons. Cheer on the finishers of the California Classic Half Marathon as they cross home plate after running 13.1 miles. They should start coming in around 9am. Then stay for MC and PA announcer tryouts. The Grizzlies will conduct auditions for a weekday public address announcer and a new on-field emcee until 1:00 p.m..
--Finally, don't forget about the Chowchilla Western Stampede in its 57th year! Team roping and barreling racing events get going at the fairgrounds Friday at 6pm and Saturday and Sunday at 8am.
