A public hearing that went on for six hours ended in a historic vote for Downtown Fresno.

The Fresno City Council voted five to two in favor of opening up the historic Fulton Mall to traffic.

The Fresno City Council met to decide whether to use a $16 Million federal grant for the project.

The mall was built in 1964. And it's been one of Mayor Ashley Swearengin's goals to revitalize it by letting cars back in.

Lemor Abrams has the live decision from the Fresno City Hall.
