Fresno Unified is getting ready to present it's first phase of it's budget plan for the upcoming fiscal year.
The overall plan is still being developed.
Tuesday, Superintendent, Michael Hansen and Deputy Superintendent, Ruth Quinto presented some key recommendations.
The district wants to hire another 39 teachers to reduce class size.
It also wants to increase school funding to boost student participation in activities and athletics.
The budget also includes a one time expense of three and half million dollars to improve security with newer cameras on middle school and high school campuses.
Fresno Unified's Board of Education will hear the recommendations Wednesday.
A budget is expected to be adopted in June.
