It was the final send off; the final goodbye for two officers, two brave brothers,  two fallen heroes.

CHP Commissioner Joe Farrow says, " this is a day of mourning not only for Fresno, but for all of California."

The loss of CHP officers Juan Gonzalez and Brian Law cut deep. Their flag-draped caskets were surrounded by love, honor and broken hearts.

CHP Captain Dave Paris says, " One week ago today Fresno communication center personnel received a 911 call and heard something no one ever wants to hear."

The tragic passing of true public servants who lost their lives doing what they loved. Friends and colleagues shared memories.  Gonzales was remembered for his contagious laugh.

" his laugh was immediately and very fittingly labeled the Scooby Doo laugh," says Cpt. Paris.

Law was remembered for his deep devotion to his wife and three young kids.

Farrow says, " it takes a special person to wear a CHP badge and your dad was one of the very best."

The impact is felt nationwide.  Officers from across the country lined the streets in salute.

Washington State Trooper Keith Leary says, " I wouldn't want to be anywhere else right now. If this happened to me tragically, I'd want the same support."

About two thousand people were in attendance at the service, including Governor Jerry Brown.
