Lemor Abrams reports from the memorial Services of two fallen

Bagpipes and a short prayer began the ceremony, as over two thousand people...hundreds of CHP officers and the Governor himself mourned in Fresno's Savemart Center.

Celebrating the lives of California Highway Patrol Officers Brian Law and Juan Gonzalez.

CHP Commissioner Joe Farrow spoke directly to the officers' families: laws wife and three children; and Gonzalez' brother, sister, and fiance.

"The days to come there will be times when you may feel alone but know that you are and always will be part of the CHP family," said Commissioner Joe Farrow.

Gonzalez's best friend talked about the memories they shared at Fresno State, the fraternity, their bond.

"He was there when I really needed someone to navigate life," said Hector Arredondo.

Law's friend worked the graveyard shift with him in Oakland when he first started, following his honorable discharge from the United States Marines. They shared the same birthday.

"At the time I had no idea that a simple conversation about sharing the same birthday would lead us to become more than just best friends but brothers," said John Savage.

An audio recording of a dispatcher ended the ceremony.

"End of watch February 17, 2014 your sacrifice to the people you served will never be forgotten."

Outside, a sea of officers lined the route in salute, and a giant American flag hung over.

As people looked on to pay their respects.

"I didn't personally know them but just seen them quite often," said Stee Loeffler from Kingsburg.

Many never met the fallen officers but they certainly won't forget them.
