A South Valley youth sports coach accused of sex crimes appeared in court Friday. 38-year-old Denell Johnson is accused of having sexual contact with a 14-year-old girl. He's also a registered sex offender with several prior convictions. His neighbors say he coached a girl's basketball team in Tulare but it's not clear what team he was involved with. His appearance in court was brief because information is still developing in the case. Investigators are waiting for more victims to come forward. They say Johnson may have used his coaching status to take advantage of other girls on his team.
