Distracted driving is an epidemic on America's roadways. A local campaign is reminding you to keep your eyes forward at all times.
You see it everyday, drivers swerving in their lanes, stopping at green lights, eyes somewhere else besides the road.
Johnny Fisher with the California Highway Patrol said, "We don't always think about the fact that driving is a complex task, it requires all of our attention."
Fisher said even looking away for a moment is when tragedy can strike.
One fourth of the collisions nationwide are caused by texting while driving.
Lucy Mays a driver in Fresno, said she was recently hit by a distracted driver. "Totaled my car, and he got out of the car and said, sorry, i wasn't paying any attention."
April is National Distracted Drivers Awareness month.
Last year during that month 3,400 people were sited in the Central Valley for distracted driving. In Fresno alone there were more than 650.
