Stolen Classic Chevy Recovered

An anonymous tip from the public paid off big Wednesday as police have recovered a valuable stolen classic car.

The 1952 Chevy Deluxe convertible was found at a home in the Sunnyside District located on East Rancho Drive.  That’s in a neighborhood near Fowler and Butler.

The car, worth at least $60,000 was rebuilt by Ken Colombini, who is well known in the community for his hot rods.  The 74-year old is now dying of cancer and his last wish was to give the family heirloom to his daughter.

But thieves threw a wrench in that plan when they stole it from his garage on January 17th.  Since then, cops and citizens were keeping an eye out for it.  Wednesday, someone in the public tipped police that the ‘52 Chevy was in a garage at a house on Rancho Drive.  Officers swooped in and sure enough found the classic car still in great shape.

Police have arrested two people and recovered a gun.  Officers obtained a search warrant for the home and checked it for other possible criminal evidence.

There’s no word on the motive behind this theft.
