A Selma firefighter is in critical condition after falling from a ladder during a training exercise.
Chris Nelson, a ten year veteran of the department, was unconscious and not breathing after plummeting at least ten feet to the ground.
Chief Mike Kain said the other firefighters were able to stabilize Nelson but could see he was in bad shape.
On Sunday Nelson underwent major surgery and is still in critical condition.
The chief said Nelson's fellow firefighters have been alongside his family at the hospital around the clock.
Donations are being collected by the Selma Firefighters Association through Union Bank C/O Chris Nelson.
