Barricades are set up at the Chukchansi tribal headquarters restricting access and Madera County Sheriff's deputies are stationed at the complex. The move comes after a faction of the tribe threatened to storm the compound once again. There is a division in the tribe over who's in charge. A new council was elected but the old council is refusing to step down. The Bureau of Indian Affairs agreed to mediate and set up a meeting with both sides but the chairman of the new council, Morris Reid, did not show up. A 48-hour cooling-off period is set to expire Thursday afternoon. The general manager of Chukchansi Gold Casino says the dispute is not impacting how the resort is run.
