Kings County is getting a new crime fighting tool.
Supervisors approved a request for a law enforcement airplane.
It'll help improve public safety in the area by helping officers track suspects from the air.
They can also monitor for agricultural crime from a relatively inconspicuous place.
It'll also help the county's efforts to combat wildfires.
The plane will be used for 460 hours a year at a cost of $40,000.
In 2012 the Sheriff's Department rented a chopper that cost $30,000 for 60 hours in the air.
