Crime Stoppers is celebrating its 20th year in the valley.
Twenty years of helping to solve crimes and put criminals behind bars.
KSEE24 has been a proud partner since nearly the very beginning. CBS47 joined in 2013.
We've brought you the Crime Stoppers Wanted Person of the Day and the Arrest of the Day.
Members of law enforcement and the community joined together Tuesday night to mark 20 years of service to the community from Crime Stoppers.
Leaders in law enforcement including the CHP, Fresno and Madera Sheriffs, and Fresno, Clovis and Selma police applauded the efforts of Valley Crime Stoppers.
"it does work, very effective," said Madera Sheriff John Anderson.
Anderson said a Crime Stoppers tip helped solve a brutal murder in 2008 at a dairy barn in Chowchilla.
"Your tv station ran it and it was on Crime Stoppers and a lady came forward and said 'I used to know a guy that had a sweatshirt like that.' And by gosh, we went there and found it and convicted him," Anderson said.
Fresno Police Chief Jerry Dyer says Crime Stoppers has helped his department solve cases from burglaries to murders.
"It gives us the ability to pay people for information, to pay people to tell us where wanted people are, not only to remove those wanted people from the street but also to be able to remove firearms from the streets, firearms that are in the hands of gang members," Dyer said.
KSEE24s Bud Elliot emceed the 20th Anniversary celebration.
For the past two decades, Crime Stoppers has offered rewards to those who call in their tips.
And those callers can remain completely anonymous.
Organizers say, over the years, Crime Stoppers has paid hundreds of thousands of dollars in rewards for information that lead to arrests.
"Tonights celebration is to thank all of those contributors all of the people who donate to keep Crime Stoppers going, because without that reward money we would not be able to exist the way it is," Fresno Sheriff Margaret Mims said.
Remember, if you have information on a crime call Crime Stoppers at 498-STOP.
