It's almost time to wake up from what many consider a traffic nightmare.

"It's been a pain in the rear for a little bit so it will be nice when it's over and done with," said Joshua.

He is optimistic that the construction project on central Fresno interchanges will be worth the wait after a year and a half of congestion.

And he's not alone.

"It just slows it down," said Daniel Esparza. "The freeway is backed up and it sometimes takes 20 to 30 minutes to get off."

Westbound lanes of highways 180, 168, and 41 were all closed Friday night as the work continued.

The plan is to cut down on traffic in those area by creating a new exit to southbound 41 from 168.

CHP Commander Dave Paris is warning drivers to pay extra special attention over the weekend.

"We're coming to fruition to where we're going to see total completion where everybody will have a big sigh of relief and I can't stress enough, people must slow down," said Paris.

Pat Henneberger is the project manager for the company behind the roadwork.

He says motorists will no longer have to merge with westbound 180 traffic to get to 41 north or south which may

be a shock come next week.

"Your route will change. Monday morning, the commute, please take your time," said Henneberger.

If you're using 180 East, you'll still be stuck in the same old pattern that is currently in place.

That route will not change for several more weeks.

"I think it's worth it. I think it's going to make the traffic smoother," said Joshua.

With less stop and more go.
