A Fresno pump manufacturer welcomed a distinguished guest Monday. Germany's Ambassador to the United States.
Ambassador, Peter Ammon and his wife toured the Grundfo's Pump Manufacturing plant on east Shields.
He said he found the tour very interesting, and that it reinforced the importance of a Trans-Atlantic free trade agreement.
Such an agreement, he said, could create as many as 700-thousand jobs in the U.S. "In today's world, manufacturing is a global issue," said Ammon.
He heard that parts of these pumps come from all over the world and other parts manufactured here go into assembly plants elsewhere in the world.
Ammon also said he's hopeful that solutions to California's drought can be found through the creation of new technology.
