A 27-year-old Fresno man is accused of killing his 3-year-old son.
Investigators say were called out to a home near Palm and Garland Thursday morning and found Don Nelson holding his three-year-old son who was unresponsive. The boy later died at a hospital.
Investigators say Nelson admitted to spanking his son with a belt. Police are waiting until the autopsy is complete to charge Nelson for the child's death.
"Based on that autopsy we will be able to determine number one, how these injuries occurred and secondly, how these injuries contributed to that child's death," said Fresno Police Chief Jerry Dyer.
Dyer says nelson will, at the very least, face child abuse charges and could be charged with murder.
