Tens of thousands of chickens, as many as 50,000, were starved to death near Turlock.
The dead birds were hauled away from A&L Poultry after an tip came in that the birds were not being fed or given water for several weeks.
Annette Patton with Stanislaus County Animal Control said, "I have never seen anything to this extreme, with the volume of animals being mistreated."
The owner has been interviewed but has not been arrested. The District Attorney is waiting for more information before possibly charging him with animal cruelty.
