A man is hospitalized with major injuries following an officer-involved shooting in Delano Saturday afternoon.
Delano Police say it started with a burglary in progress.
Officers say when they got there, a green truck drove off.
That lead to a police chase.
The pursuit eventually ended at Ninth Avenue and Browning Rd.
Police say during the chase the suspect ran a red light and was hit by a white Suburban heading Southbound.
Officers say the suspect lost control of his truck and ran into a power pole.
"The suspect exited the passenger side of the pickup truck and began firing at officers. Two officers returned fire striking the suspect multiple times in the upper torso," said Raul Alvizo from the Delano Police Department.
The suspect was airlifted to Kern Medical Center with major injuries.
The driver of the Suburban was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
The suspect's name has not been released.
