Fresno State Bulldogs fans packed Dog House Grill to cheer on the Bulldogs as they matched up against the Spartans in San Jose.

But the mood quickly changed toward the end of the game.

The Spartans handed the Bulldogs their first loss of the season, ending Bulldogs 52, Spartans 62.

Throughout the day, the excitement ran high.

On this Black Friday, Bulldog football is just as much a part of the Thanksgiving weekend as the other festivities for Fresno State fans.

"Actually, a lot of us live in San Francisco, and we're back here for Thanksgiving. And we all wanted to come to Dog House [Grill], the number one spot to watch the game," said Nicole Khodabandeh, a Fresno State alumna.

The Bulldog pride runs deep.

The Engleka couple has had season tickets for decades.

"It's been great. We follow them in the bad years and the good years. We've had season tickets since 1982," said Merle Engleka, a Fresno State fan.

The Bulldogs ranked 16 in BCS standings. Up until Friday's defeat, some felt the Bulldogs weren't getting the credit they deserved.

"Even though it's supposedly computer generated, there's got to be some human factor in it somewhere," said Jim Forte, a season ticket holder who watched Friday's game at Dog House Grill.

"I think they [the BCS] want all East Coast guys. That's my opinion anyway," added Judy Engleka.

No matter the outcome, Fresno State can say they have a loyal fan base-- selling out three home games this season.

The Bulldogs will play in Fresno Dec. 7 for the Mountain West Conference game.
