Thanksgiving is traditionally the busiest travel day of the year and more than 5-million drivers are expected to hit California roads.
The California Highway Patrol wants everyone to remember to buckle up and drive safely.
"There's going to be an influx of traffic in the area. You really need to pay attention to what's going on. Make sure you give yourself enough time, enough space, slow down," says Vance Wedeking of the California Highway Patrol.
Starting at 6:00 p.m. CHP officers will be working a maximum enforcement period. Last year 44 people were killed in California over the Thanksgiving holiday.
