Excitement is building ahead of the final scheduled home football game for the Fresno State Bulldogs.

"It's been one of those magical years. We've had magical games, we've had magical plays in some of those magical games. To get the wins we've had overtime. We've had just about everything, and we haven't lost at home," said Paul Ladwig, senior associate athletic director at Fresno State.

Their undefeated trend is one they hope to continue. The Bulldogs have the fan base to back them up.

"It's really to fun to basically brag about our school and be like, "Oh yeah, Fresno State football is better than all your other schools,'" said Fresno State junior Kimberleigh McDermott.

The Bulldog pride shows in the numbers.

Sales of official Fresno State merchandise are up by 41 percent across the Central Valley compared to last year, Ladwig said.

"I think it's great for the community. I think it's great for our team. I think it's great for what they represent. They're a great team to follow. It's a great school. I love my school. I love watching the band come in. That's one of my favorite things," said Randall Griggs, who graduated from Fresno State.

The final scheduled home game is also the third game to sellout this season. Locals are hoping to see their 'dogs through to the end.

"It's been a good year for them, and I hope they make it to the championship. That would be awesome. I'm very proud of them. They've done a really good job," said Tonia Rodriguez, who will be going to Saturday's game.

Senior football players will also be honored on the field at Saturday's game.

If the Bulldogs beat the New Mexico Lobos, the Bulldogs may play again in Fresno for the Mountain West Conference championship game December 7.
