President Obama receives support from top congressional leaders after his meeting at the White House Tuesday morning, but he isn't getting the same response from our local Valley Congressmen.
Congressman Republican, David Valadao said if he was asked today to green light a strike on Syria, the answer would be no.

"I do believe that it was Assad, I do believe the regime is doing a lot of bad things, obviously we've heard bad things, over 100,000 of their own civilians being killed. But the US I think has gone in on enough wars alone, I'm not ready to vote yes on this one just yet," said Congressman Valadao.

Congressman Republican, Devin Nunes said for now he would also vote no. He said the issue is complex and that the end result of a strike by the US remains vague.

"At this point it's, you know I have to do what my conscience tells me and I just can't see putting our young men and women from the Valley in any type of conflict that doesn't have any clear objectives," said Congressman Nunes.

Congressman Nunes said President Obama may get the votes needed in the Senate, but doesn't believe he'll succeed in the House of Representatives.
Republican Democrat, Jim Costa hasn't said which way he would vote.  He won't support the use of any US ground troops and is concerned about the scope of any military action.
He issued the following statement:
"If a military response is necessary, it must be a limited, coordinated response from an international coalition. the ultimate resolution to this is and must be a political solution, not a military one."

A vote in Congress could come as early as next week after they return from their summer recess on September 9th.
