Heavy machinery was brought in to clear out a homeless encampment on Santa Clara and F Street a week ago.  Today, the area still remains clear of illegal structures.

"It's not fair to us, it's not fair to the homeless that we have to be shoved around like we're cows and horses," said Rozetta Landrum, a woman who has lived on the streets since 2004.

We met back up with Landrum a week from the clean-up.  The last time we saw her she was breaking down her home and now, her belongings sit in shopping carts along the curbside.

"They don't want nobody on F Street in front of the Poverello. They say it's a residential area and they want to keep it that way," said Landrum.

The city said they gave a 30-day notice to those living in the encampment and that they have been working closely with the Fresno Housing Authority to help find the homeless a place to live.
The city said the encampments are a health hazard and incresed crime like murder, assault and arson has forced them to take action.

Fresno Police and code enforcement will continue to patrol the area to make sure the illegal structures don't come back.  A clean-up notice is posted at the second encampment to be cleaned Tuesday near Monterey and E Street. A fire recently broke out destroying a lot of the illegal structures.
Jennie Mendez lives nearby and is relieved after learning the encampment is next on the city's list.

"I'm a little bit happy at what they're doing, so hopefully they keep our neighborhoods safe," said Mendez.

Clean-up for the second encampment starts around 7AM Tuesday morning.
