Participants made their way around the warning track at Chukchansi park in Fresno for the first annual Walk N' Roll fundraiser.

It was put together by a non-profit group that helps work with people and families living with disabilities.

“They walked around the warning track of the field eight times so two miles some people are rolling, we have a lot of people in wheel chairs this morning,” says Laura Mcgrew, area director Joni and Friends.

Laura Mcgrew is the local director for Joni and Friends a non-profit organization started in the late 1970’s by Joni Eareckson Tada, who was paralyzed in a diving accident when she was 17.

After the walk there was a carnival with games and face painting.

The event raises money for local programs including summer camp in WonderValley next spring for people with disabilities.

“The families go who have kids with disabilities or campers like myself,” says Diana Kenderian a participant.

Many of those who took part know someone with disabilities.

Elizabeth Kutz walked because her mother works with kids with special needs.

“I've grown up in this atmosphere so it's something I've enjoyed doing, working with special needs children. So we jumped at the opportunity to do this and come out here,” says Kutz.
