The first day of classes at Fresno State University equals a packed campus. Enrollment this year is up by 150 students for a record total of 22,710.
The university said transfer and international students along with incoming freshman have also hit record numbers.
It's the first day of college for Freshman, Emeline Pano. She rides her bike 8 miles to and from school to give her wallet and the environment a break.

"The car I have it goes 13 miles per gallon, so it's so much money," said Pano.

She's not the only student biking to school. This rack was packed full of bikes early Thursday.  It seems more students are taking advantage.

"Oh you know, gas prices is crazy and you know save money and get some exercise at the same time," said Fresno State Senior, Daymel Cardenas.

It's the school's 103rd year, and this year is all about venturing new heights.
The new University President, Dr. Joseph Castro along with more than 45 faculty members were welcomed on board. For the past six years there has been a tuition increase. This year is different and they hope to keep it that way.
