There's a new attraction at Fresno's Chaffee Zoo.

The king cobra exhibit opened to the public Saturday.

It's located in the reptile building which was expanded to make room for the new resident.

"We have an eleven foot long adult female king cobra. She is about 13 years-old she comes to us from the St. Luis Zoo, she was hatched there. This exhibit has been modeled after some of the ruins you see in Cambodia. So it's got some really great elements of not only rain forests but some of the broken down ruins you would see in those types of periods," says Mark Halvorsen, Fresno Chaffee Zoo.

The new exhibit was paid for with funds from Measure Z which was passed by voters in 2004.

The Chaffee Zoo is currently open every day from 9a.m. to 6p.m., except for Thanksgiving and Christmas.
