A Los Angeles developer purchased the old J.C. Penny building in downtown Fresno and talks about its future.
Developer Shay Maghame plans commercial space on the ground floor, residential units on the upper floors and parking in the basement.
J.C. Penny closed the store on the Fulton Mall back in 1986.
Maghame said, "We are planning to do this with investor money as much as possible to try to do it sooner rather than later. We have a lot of interested investors, international investors."
Mahhame has local ties and graduated from Fresno City College and Fresno State, and moved to Los Angeles in 1971.
