Suspect Arrested After Ramming Police Cars

A Clovis man is under arrest after allegedly ramming two police cars and fighting with officers.

34-year-old Randy Kestner has seven warrants out for his arrest.

Clovis police spotted him at a home near Fowler and Nees on Burl Avenue.

When detectives tried to arrest him, he tried to get away and slammed into several cars.

Clovis police worked into the night serving a search warrant at the home where they say 34-year-old Randy Kestner has been staying.

Kestner left the neighborhood on Burl Avenue in handcuffs and under arrest. A CBS47 viewer snapped this photo.

Kestner was arrested after he tried to get away from Clovis officers who were trying to arrest him.

Kevin Barnard was at home at the time.

“I was in the wading pool in the backyard and I heard these skids and a loud crash. And when I walked outside there was a cop car crashed into my neighbors truck,” said Barnard who lives a couple doors away from where the arrest was made.

Police were in the neighborhood because they found out Kestner was staying here. He was wanted on drug charges and for allegedly leading police on chases through Clovis and FresnoCounty.

They tried to arrest him when he left his friend’s house.

“He came out of the house, jumped into his car and apparently rammed two police vehicles as well as the vehicle of somebody who lives here in the neighborhood,” said Janet Stoll-Lee with the Clovis Police Department.

Police say Kestner then climbed out of his car and tried to run.

“That's when one officer tased him because he was combative at the time,” said Stoll-Lee.

With Kestner in custody, police wrote a search warrant for the home where Kestner had been to see if there's any evidence that ties him to other crimes.

It was an episode Kevin Barnard and other neighbors on Burl Avenue won't soon forget.

“It's crazy nothing like this has ever happened on Burl,” Barnard said.
