Thieves steal from a local special needs group

Members of The Arc in Fresno spent part of their day outdoors playing kickball.  The Arc helps special needs residents here in the Valley, but that job is getting harder because of thoughtless thieves.

Proper transportation is key for The Arc to help clients.  One of the Fresno locations had a van stolen months ago and on Monday morning another van, a white, Ford E-150 was missing from their parking lot.

"There was no glass on the ground, so I can only assume that it was stolen and they probably Slim Jimmed it," said The Arc Program Manager, Stella Woodall.

One of The Arc offices in Fresno has a total of 13 vans.  If one of the remaining vans goes down it will impact client service.  80% of The Arc's activities take place out in the community making the vans all the more critical.

"We need to be out there in the community and without the vans, we can't do that.  So, it does take away from you know, their learning experience," said The Arc Training Supervisor, Joel Davis.

Police did find and return the van stolen a few months ago, but so far no such luck with the latest theft.
