Badges and Bats

Police and Sheriff Deputies squared off at Chukchansi Park in downtown Fresno for the Bats and Badges baseball game.

Fresno Police wore blue uniforms and Fresno Sheriff's deputies wore green.

Fresno Police Chief Jerry Dyer and Fresno Sheriff Margaret Mims threw out ceremonial first pitches.

"This is the first annual baseball game between the Fresno County Sheriff's Office and the Fresno Police Department. Everybody is having a great time, it is a friendly rivalry," says Fresno County Sheriff, Margaret Mims.

"It's supposed to be a friendly game of competition between the Fresno Police Department and the Fresno Sheriff's Department. But a very competitive nature of these guys out on the field today and it's all for a great cause the Fresno Peace Officers Memorial," says Police Chief Jerry Dyer.

Fresno Police won Saturday's game, the score : 12 to 2.
