But many more farm animals didn't make it out alive.
“We knew the animals weren't getting fed but we didnt' know it was that bad until we saw the cow,” said Faby Soto who lives next door.
A cow and four chickens were found dead.
Neighbors saw them wither away.
“It's very frustrating. It makes me mad,” said Soto.
Fresno County Sheriff's Deputies arrested 30-year-old Gary Charles Long...on sixteen felony counts of animal cruelty.
“They're your pets or your farm animals...you need to take care of em, and this guy obviously didn't,” said Fresno County Sheriff’s Deputy Chris Curtice.
There was water and feed on the property but apparently no one to dish it to the animals.
There was even a water hose next to a pig's pen...yet the pig was dehydrated.
“It was near death. We thought it was dead. One of the deputies squirted the pig off to cool it off,” said Curtice.
Deputies say there were more animals inside the trailer...and they spent hours making sure everyone is accounted for.
Neighbors say they tried to help before things got this bad...but it was out of their control.
“I couldn't believe they were in such bad shape,” said Soto.
