Police say the suspects broke into the back of a storage unit that Children's Hospital was renting at a mini storage near Fowler and Alluvial in Clovis.

They stole special needs sporting equipment.

Clovis police say the suspects punched a hole in the plaster fence, then punched holes in the stucco wall to get in.

Four different units were broken into at Derrel's Storage, but only Children's Hospital is reporting a loss.

"I think it was a random hit and hopefully the people that did it realize the equipment is really more important to us than it is just valuable for money," said Jennifer Crocker with Children's Hospital

The thieves ripped off nearly $1,600 worth of equipment.

The hospital says it hopes the thieves will autonomously drop the items off at Children's Hospital.

If not, they hope they can get some community support to help build up their stock again.
