A suspected bank robber was shot by sheriff's deputies in the South Valley on Monday.
Investigators believe the suspect may be the same man who held up several banks in Visalia and Tulare.
Deputies spotted a Jeep believed to be involved in an armed bank robbery at a Wells Fargo in Tulare just a half hour earlier.
When they tried to pull the Jeep over, the suspect led them on a chase that ended at Caldwell Avenue and Dans Street, where the suspect hit a power pole and crashed into the side of an apartment building.
The driver got out of the Jeep and a witness says the suspect lunged at officers and raised his hands like he had a gun.
Deputies opened fire and struck the suspect multiple times.
The suspect was taken to the hospital and his condition is not known at this time.
