A bizarre series of events led to two men being arrested Tuesday evening in Fresno County.
The California Highway Patrol tried to pull over a suspected drunk driver, who tried to run, turned down a private road and crashed into a utility pole. The downed power lines then started a grass fire.
The incident happened near Herndon and Highland, east of Clovis Community Medical Center.
A man then came out of a neighboring home and began beating the driver, forcing officers to use a Taser to subdue him.
Both the neighbor and the suspected drunk driver were taken into custody.
PG&E shut the power off and fire crews were able to put out the fire before it caused damage to any homes.
The five acre fire threatened three homes, but firefighters and neighbors say good defensible space kept the flames away.
